Privacy Policy

Bips ("Bips," "we," "us") is an early-stage app that gives you a personalized social feed, quizzes and reference content about high finance. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Bips is a young MVP built by a small team - if you have any concerns not addressed here, just email us.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information: your name, email address, and, if you sign up with email and password, a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.
  • Google Sign-In: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We don't receive your Google password or access anything else in your Google account.
  • Preferences and activity: the finance areas you pick (e.g. Investment Banking, Private Equity), the posts you save to Favorites, and your daily quiz answers and history.
  • Technical information: standard server logs (e.g. IP address, browser type) collected automatically by our hosting provider for security and debugging. We don't use this for tracking or advertising.

We don't use cookies or trackers for advertising or analytics. The only cookie we set is a session cookie that keeps you logged in.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and secure your account
  • Personalize your feed, memes and daily quiz to the areas you follow
  • Remember your saved posts and quiz progress
  • Send you a password-reset email if you request one
  • Keep the service running securely and fix bugs

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of service providers to run Bips:

  • Google (optional), for "Continue with Google" sign-in.
  • Resend, to send password-reset emails.
  • Vercel and Turso, who host the app and its database.

These providers process data only as needed to provide their service to us, under their own privacy policies.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a hosted database and encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. As with any online service, we can't guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

5. Your Rights

You can update your area preferences and log out at any time from Settings. To request a copy of your data, or to have your account and data deleted, email us at [email protected] and we'll take care of it.

6. Children's Privacy

Bips isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

7. Changes to This Policy

Bips is early and things may change as the product evolves. We'll update this page when they do, and update the date at the top.
